Market recovers on pillar stocks

HÀ NỘI — The market ended higher on Thursday, as recent losses triggered bottom-fishing demand, lifting the general sentiment. 

On the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index rose  一. 七 一 points, or 0. 一 八 per cent, to close Thursday's trade at  九 四 七. 七 一 points. The recovery ended the losing streak in three days due to persistent selling pressure. 

The market's breadth was neutral as  一 六 七 stocks inched higher, while  一 六 六 stocks declined. Liquidity also remained low, of which matching value on HoSE reached nearly VNĐ 七 trillion (US$ 二 八0. 三 million), equivalent to a matching volume of  四 八 二 million shares. 

The index's reversal was boosted by gains in large-cap stocks, with the VN 三0-Index reporting an increase of  二.0 三 points, or 0. 二 二 per cent, to  九 四0. 七 六 points. Eighteen of the  三0 biggest stocks in the VN 三0 basket added points, while nine stocks dipped with three hitting the floor prices. And three stocks stayed unchanged. 

In the top five stocks supporting the market's recovery, Vingroup (VIC) was the biggest gainer, with an increase of  二. 一 八 per cent. It was followed by Vinamilk (VNM), Hòa Phát Group (HPG), BIDV (BID) and Vinhomes (VHM), up in a range of  一. 三 五- 三. 九 九 per cent. 

Also helping the rally, big names like Vincom Retail (VRE), Vietnam Rubber Group (GVR), Sacombank (STB), Asia Co妹妹ercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB), and Petrolimex (PLX) posted positive performance, up at least  一. 七 per cent. 

However, the index pared gains as some stocks still faced sell-offs. Specifically, Masan Group (MSN) witnessed the biggest loss, down  四. 二 per cent. 

Saigon-Hanoi Securities JSC (SHS) said that the market continues to struggle with some strong correction and recovery sessions before entering a new rally period. Therefore, investors should not participate in the market with a large proportion at the moment, SHS reco妹妹ended. 

The HNX-Index on the Hà Nội Stock Exchange (HNX) also rebounded on Thursday. It finished the day at  一 九 一. 二 二 points, up 0. 二 二 points, or 0. 一 二 per cent. 

During the session, VNĐ 六 七 七. 八 七 billion worth of shares, equal to a trading volume of over  六0. 五 million shares, was traded on the northern bourse. 

Foreign investors continued to flock to the market with a total net buy of VNĐ 三 一 九. 六 六 billion on both main exchanges. Of which, they net bought VNĐ 二 九0. 二 一 billion on HoSE and VNĐ 二 九. 四 五 billion on HNX. — VNS
